Biography

Lars Peder B. Sørensen (b.1987) is a Danish trombone player, conductor, and educator based in Aarhus. LP received both a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music degree from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark with the highest possible marks in both playing and pedagogy. He also spent a year at the Royal Conservatorium in Den Haag, Holland. He finished his Artist Diploma from the Danish National Academy of Music in 2017 with a 4-star review in the newspaper. His primary teachers include professor Niels-Ole Bo Johansen, Brandt Attema, and Jesper Busk Sørensen.

LP began performing in the local Symphony Orchestra during his first year at conservatory and has since become a highly sought-after freelancer, having played with almost all professional orchestras, military bands, and ensembles in Denmark.

LP frequently performs on both tenor and bass trombone as well as baritone, euphonium, contrabass trombone, and occasionally tuba. He is well versed in many different settings and musical styles, which can be heard on several recordings such as with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Blood Sweat Dum + Bass Big Band and the Norwegian jazz singer Live Foyn Friis.
He also performs with big bands, pit orchestras, and gives solo recitals and chamber concerts.

Besides performing, LP also maintains a busy schedule as a conductor. During his Masters program, LP double-majored in conducting and trombone performance. He has experience conducting various ensembles, including small brass ensembles, Wind Band, and Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he currently serves as the musical director of two regional brass bands.

With a passion for education, LP teaches all levels of brass players from young beginners to college majors. In 2018, he experienced the joy of witnessing one of his first students beginning her Bachelor of Music program at the conservatory he attended. LP also taught outside of Denmark and has given masterclasses and recitals for many ensembles, such as the trombone class of the Artic University of Norway in Tromsø and at Shepherd Trombone Workshop in 2019 in the United States.

Due to his love of teaching and community, LP recently formed his own tromboneworkshop. The Danish Youth Trombones is for young trombonists ages 14-21 who meet several times a year to dive into the wonderful world of music and trombone together.
